A 16-year-old minor was on 22 September 2020, remanded in custody when he appeared in the Bloemhof Magistrates’ Court on a charge of murder. He is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday, 14 October 2020, for legal representation.

An enquiry was opened on Sunday afternoon, 20 September 2020, after a four-year-old girl was reported missing. According to information available at this stage, reports suggest that the little girl was last seen in the company of a man in the evening along the N12 road near Boitumelong Location. That was after she went missing while playing with other children outside the yard at her parental home.

He was handed over to the police by a local pastor whom he allegedly confided in that he killed a young girl and left her body in the bushes not far from Boitumelong.

Investigation into the matter continues.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena expressed his shock over the killing of a four-year-old by the minor.
