Man tortured with boiling water on smallholding in South Africa
Man overpowered and shot multiple times on smallholding

On Tuesday, 6 June 2017, a female victim (40) was attacked while she was watering her employers garden on a smallholding in Waterfall East, Rustenburg.

Two suspects driving a white VW Jetta stopped their car and asked her where her employer was, and when she said she did not know, they pulled out a firearm and forced her into the residence.

Inside the house, Martin Smit, the employer, was overpowered and assaulted. The suspects tied Martin up and tortured him with boiling water. Two other suspects entered the home and continued to torture the worker and Martin.

The four suspects fled with Martins white Toyota Land Cruiser, handgun, cash, two laptops, garage remotes, ID, and bank cards. The value of the stolen goods was around R 800,000.

Both Martin and the worker are receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the attack.

The police responded to the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
