On January 3, power cable thieves in Klerksdorp shot Shintoe Smith. At this stage, the details surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
Smith is the father of a 9-year-old son and his wife Sunet released a statement that her husband is in Wilmed ICU in a critical state. Smith is hooked up to a ventilator, as he is unable to breathe on his own and in an induced coma. Apparently, his lung is damaged from the shooting and doctors will be performing tests to determine the extent of the injury once his condition is stable.
The police will conduct an investigation.
