Man shot after trying to stop a robbery in progress
The decomposed bodies of two children were found tied and blindfolded in Soweto.

A man was shot outside his home situated in Beneden Street, Rustenburg around 21:00 on 11 March 2017.

Apparently, the man went outside to see why people were screaming. He witnessed a man exiting the property next to his house. The man was carrying various electronic equipment, laptops, TV’s and cell phones. The man tried to stop the suspect and at that stage, a man in a getaway car parked opposite the road fired eight shots at him. A number of bullets hit him.

Other neighbors alerted the community security and members of SACCW rushed to the scene and immediately tried to assist the victim. Other security personnel from RRCF, White Leopard Security, SAPS Phokeng K9 and ER24 assisted with the incident.

The man was assisted by the responder team members and transferred to a hospital in a serious condition.

The man is in a critical but stable condition in hospital. He was shot in the left lung and underwent an emergency operation. His liver, kidneys, gallbladder, stomach and abdominal wall were affected by the shooting. A bullet must still be removed and he will undergo another operation within the next 24 hours.

It is reported that an iPhone that was stolen was tracked but the connection was lost. No arrests have been made.
