The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena has welcomed the sentence handed down to Tshepo Andrew Mmusi (37) by the Atamelang Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 9 June 2022, for killing his own father, William Tshegofatso Mmusi (60).

Tshepo was sentenced after he entered into a plea bargain with the State.

The court heard evidence that Tshepo initially reported that his father, William, went missing on Thursday, 12 October 2021.

However, two days later on Saturday, 14 October 2021, he admitted during an interview with police that he murdered his father and burnt his body. As a result, the body was found at Ramabesa Village, Setlagole, and he was arrested. He remained in custody throughout the duration of the court case.

Due to excellent investigation by Sgt Mbulelo Victor Isake of the Setlagole Detectives, Tshepo Mmusi was found guilty for murder and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended the Investigating Officer and prosecution for a sterling job.
