Man killed in Ottosdal hit-and-run

A 55-year-old man was killed in an apparent hit-and-run in Kareekuil near Ottosdal, North West police said on Sunday.

A vehicle failed to stop after hitting and instantly killing a pedestrian at about 11pm on Friday along the R507 between Delareyville and Ottosdal, near Kareekuil farm, Lt-Col Pelonomi Makau said.

Police were investigating a case of culpable homicide, failing to stop and report an accident, and failing to stop and to ascertain injuries.

“The incident was reported to the police by a passerby. According to information, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop after an accident that took the life of a 55-year-man. The police request anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact Detective Constable Heneck on 079-331-0495 or Ottosdal police station on 018-571-9000,” she said.
