Police in Rustenburg have arrested a 29-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm, North West police said on Sunday.
Police conducting a routine patrol in the Tlhabane and Rustenburg North area on Friday when they spotted two suspicious men on the street, Lt-Col Pelonomi Makau said.
“The pair allegedly ran away and police managed to arrest one and the other is still at large. Upon searching the arrested suspect, a firearm with six rounds of live ammunition was recovered.”
The suspected stolen firearm was linked to a housebreaking case reported in Lichtenburg last month. The man was expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
