A 35-year-old man accused of raping a 71-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Mankwe Magistrate’s Court in Mogwase outside Rustenburg on Monday, North West police said.
Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the man was arrested for allegedly raping the woman on Friday in Mogwase.
“The suspect’s appearance in court is after he allegedly went to the elderly woman’s room [and throttled] and raped her and then robbed her of her cellphone before fleeing the scene on foot. He was traced and arrested by the police in Mogwase. The incident took place on Friday at approximately 10am,” she said.
