A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a woman in Madikwe, North West police said on Sunday.
The man was arrested on Saturday when police followed up on leads after the body of a 53-year-old woman was found dumped in the bushes at Ngakane section, Uitkyk village in Madikwe, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.
“The police used a dog from the scene to follow leads that led them to the suspect’s place where he was found wearing bloodstained clothes. He was then arrested and is expected to appear in the Madikwe Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 August 2016.”
North West police commissioner Lt-Gen Baile Motswenyane lauded the arrest, saying it was disgusting that women’s month was coming to an end with cases like this happening. Police would do everything in their power to ensure that the suspect remained behind bars and paid for his crimes.
