The Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) arrested a 46 year old man for the alleged kidnapping of a three year old Ongezwa Mthimkhulu on Saturday, 1 September 2018. Mthimkhulu went missing on Friday, 24 August 2018 from Bright Angels Pre School in Kanana.

It is alleged that the boy’s mother dropped him at the pre school, but was informed later the same day when she went to fetch the child that he was already collected.

A case of kidnapping was registered at Kanana Police station. The suspect was then traced and arrested. He appeared before the Orkney Magistrates’ Court on 3 September 2018, for kidnapping of Ongezwa, who is still missing.

The suspect will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, 10 September 2018 for a formal bail application.

Ongezwa was wearing a red and black long sleeve jersey, navy blue and white t-shirt, black denim and white and black tekkies at the time of his appearance.
