Man appears in court for North West murder

A 36-year-old man is expected to appear in the Atamelang Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for allegedly killing a 59-year-old woman.

North West police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the man was arrested on Monday, in Manja village near Mahikeng after a body of a woman was found in a pool of blood at Sione village near Atamelang.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect gained entrance through the window into the victim’s house wherein he allegedly shot her in the chest. A manhunt was launched and it led to apprehension of the suspect in Manja village,” said Moleko.

She said the suspect was found riding a suspected stolen bicycle in Manja.

“The suspect will also be facing additional charges of illegal possession of firearm, ammunition and theft.”
