In an effort to curb property related crimes in the province, Pule Mosimanyana, 39, was arrested and subsequently appeared in the Itsoseng Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 14 May 2020 for possession of suspected stolen livestock. He was remanded in custody until Monday, 25 May 2020 for a formal bail application.

Mosimanyana was apprehended and detained after the registration of a stock theft case in which seven cattle were reported stolen from a grazing field on Monday, 11 May 2020 in Tshunyane village in the policing area of Lomanyaneng, Mahikeng.

It is alleged that the suspect approached and requested a member of the community to temporarily keep the livestock for him. He allegedly requested that he be given cash in the meantime. According to information at our disposal, the accused was arrested after the person who was given the livestock to take care of it, notified the police. Consequently, the cattle worth R62 000.00 were positively identified by the lawful owner.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended the police and members of the community for their cooperation that led to the success and the recovery of the livestock.
