Lonmin mine production disrupted by protesters

The Lonmin mine near Brits had to stop production after local residents started protesting.

The residents, on whose land the mining occurs, are demanding 1 000 permanent jobs at the mine.

With seven days of no production and two shafts closed, losses are calculated at R40 million.
