Provincial Management welcomed a life term and 21 years imprisonment sentence handed down to David Shomolekae 36, by the North Gauteng High Court sitting in Potchefstroom on 11 August 2017.

Shomolekae’s sentence follows an incident in which he killed Lesley Makousa, aged 16 then.

He then went to Makousa’s house where he forced entry and took household property.

Makousa’s strangled body was found by a man who was collecting empty bottles, on 6 August 2016.

Following a responsive and a thorough investigation, Shomolekae was arrested in Promosa, Potchefstroom on 07 August 2016.

He was charged with murder, burglary and robbery and was sentenced as follow. Burglary, six years imprisonment. Robbery,15 years imprisonment and murder, Life imprisonment.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane commended the investigation team for working hard to ensure that the accused gets maximum sentence. She said that the sentence will serve as an indication that no stone will be left unturned in exposing heartless criminals.
