Joseph Mathe (47), appeared before the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court on 6 August 2020, following his arrest on Tuesday in Montshioa Stadt village by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation for the alleged murder of Constable Thato Makhoana (26) last week.
The team was assisted by Detectives, Local Criminal Record Centre, K9 and Flying squad.
The lifeless body of Constable Makhoana was found along the road outside Mahikeng with gunshot wounds. His vehicle was later found torched at Majemantsho village. An immediate manhunt for the killers was launched by the Serious Organised Crime Investigation leading to the arrest of the accused who is now facing a murder charge.
Mathe is set to make his appearance in court on 11 August 2020 for legal representation. Meanwhile more arrests cannot be ruled out.
