K9 unit arrests mandrax dealer, Klerksdorp CBD

As part of ensuring that citizens of the province are free from drugs, a 42-year-old man arrested during an operation by Potchefstroom K9 Unit members is expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 22 February 2021.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, 18 February 2021, in the Klerksdorp Central Business District (CBD) after being seen allegedly exchanging drugs for money. The K9 Unit members approached the suspect, searched him and discovered 1000 mandrax tablets in his possession. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drugs.

Investigation into the matter continues.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena applauded the Potchefstroom K9 Unit for the arrest and confiscation of the drugs which he said will send a clear message that alleged drug peddlers will not walk free in this province.
