A 38-years-old suspect was arrested at a farm by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation on Thursday, 28 July 2022 for alleged illegal mining.
The police officials were following up on information received from community members regarding illegal mining activities reportedly taking place at the site.
Upon arrival at the site, they found an excavator which has been seized for further investigation. The arrested suspect was found driving around the said site.
He will make his first appearance before the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court on 01 August 2022.
