Home invasion, woman stabbed with scissors, man arrested, Sannieshof

Goitsemodimo Lawrence Molete, 22, appeared in the Sannieshof Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 August 2018, for house robbery allegedly committed in Agisanang Location, Sannieshof.

According to information available at this stage, reports suggest that a 55 year old woman and her mother were inside a house on Tuesday, 31 July 2018 at about 21:30 when they were alerted by noises. They were suddenly confronted by the accused inside their home, who threatened them with a knife.

During the confrontation, the accused allegedly stabbed the 55 year old woman with a scissors. The accused then allegedly took the victims’ car key and went to start the vehicle. The woman managed to escape and called for help. Members of the community responded quickly and confronted the suspect who fled the scene with cash and cellphones.

The incident was reported to the police who traced and arrested the suspect later the same night. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 16 August 2018.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane expressed her appreciation for a sterling job done by all police members involved in the case. She also thanked members of community for their cooperation.
