The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena welcomed a life imprisonment sentence imposed on a murder accused; John Disc Molokomme (26) who was sentenced by the North West High Court in Mmabatho on Tuesday, 11 October 2022.

Molokomme was also sentenced to additional 15 years imprisonment for housebreaking with the intent to commit an offence unknown to the state.

The sentence on count 1 and count 2 will run concurrently. The accused was further declared unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000).

Molokomme was found guilty of murder after stabbing his girlfriend Mosima Dikutle (20) numerous times with a scissor on Wednesday afternoon, 21 February 2018, just outside her home in Hebron.

The accused was consequently arrested, but released due to insufficient evidence. Subsequent to further investigation, the accused was taken back to court where he reappeared several times and ultimately found guilty.

The Provincial Commissioner lauded the Investigating Officer, Sergeant Dikgake Mabena of the Hartbeespoortdam Detectives and other role players including prosecution for their collaboration that led to the conviction. He reiterated that the sentence will undoubtedly send a clear message that those who commit crime will pay for their evil deeds.
