A 26 year old man is expected to appear in the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 September 2018, on a charge of Fraud. The suspect’s court appearance emanates from an incident in which police conducted an intelligence driven operation at about 06:00 on Friday, 14 September 2018 at 06:00 at Brits Industrial Site.

That was after intelligence was received that the suspects are allegedly placing orders goods using the names of well known companies all over the country. At that time, some of the suspects were at one of the companies in Brits Industrial Sites and attempting to defraud it using a falsified order to the estimated value of R250 000.00.

The suspect, who was driving a Red Volvo double trailer truck, arrived at the company and produced a false order under the name of Randburg based company known as Raubex.

Police were informed and members from Brits Trio Task Team and Crime Combating Unit attended the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, the truck was found still loading the goods which are IBR Galvanised Sheets. The driver was arrested and the truck impounded.

Further investigation revealed that the same modus operandi was allegedly used to defraud a company in Rosslyn of roof plates to the value of R1.7 million and a case was registered in Akasia recently.

Investigation into the matter is underway including determining linkages between the two cases.
