Klerksdorp police have arrested four suspects, aged between 25 and 36, for alleged murder and defeating the ends of justice. They are scheduled to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 18 December 2025.

The arrest relates to the death of 37-year-old Osinakachukwu Macus Onu, a Nigerian national legally residing in the country. He was allegedly shot and killed at approximately 03:00 on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, on the N12 road in Klerksdorp.

Preliminary reports indicate the deceased was chased by four traffic police officers conducting an operation. He was allegedly shot during the pursuit. His vehicle was later found abandoned on the opposite side of the N12.

Police, upon arrival at the scene, found the involved traffic officials had already left. Following received information and initial investigations, detectives located and seized the suspects’ official firearms in Klerksdorp for forensic ballistic analysis.
