A 32 year old Isaac Moruane who is facing five counts of attempted murder, was again remanded in custody until Monday, 19 August 2019 for continuation of formal bail application and confirmation of his legal status in the country by Immigration Officials.

Matsepe appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 14 August 2019 subsequent to his apprehension at Rustenburg taxi rank on Wednesday, 24 July 2019. The accused who has appeared several times in court, was arrested after a tip-off was received from members of the community. Further investigation revealed that the suspect has been using different identities and aliases such “Black”, “Boleke” and “Chimama”.

According to information available at this stage, reports suggests that the accused is linked to four other counts of attempted murder that were allegedly committed in and around Sondela informal settlement and Meriting in the policing precinct of Boitekong.

In one of the incidents in May 2019, a man was allegedly shot at multiple times while on the street at Sondela informal settlement. In another incident in June, four males who were sitting inside a car in Meriting, sustained multiple gunshot wounds after allegedly being shot by Motsepe and a group of men. It is alleged the victims were inside the car when a group of approximately six men including Motsepe got out of a Toyota Quantum and fired shots at the victims. Despite more than 20 empty cartridges which were found on the scene, all four victims survived.

The accused also has a pending murder case which was withdrawn after the witness allegedly disappeared. It was reported at the time of the incident that the accused who was known as Thato Motsepe, allegedly shot and killed a man on Tuesday, 10 March 2015 in Sunrise Park, Extension 9, Boitekong.
