On Monday afternoon, 2 April 2018, local farmers managed to assist in arresting three farm attack suspects who attacked a woman (75) in her farm house.
Lt Col Amanda Funani, a police spokesperson, said the attack happened at approximately 12:00 on a farm near Swartruggens in the North West.
According to Funani the woman was alone in her kitchen when she was overpowered by three men armed with knives.
“They had demanded money from her, they fled the scene with cash, cell phones and household items, the woman managed to conceal one phone which she then used to phone her husband and neighbouring farmers who responded and arrested the three men” said Funani.
The three suspects aged between 28 and 40 were handed over to the police, there were no injuries. All three will appear in the Swartruggens magistrates Court on Wednesday 4 April 2018.
