Farmer shot and stabbed during an attack - Brits

Armed and dangerous criminals, targeted a farm situated in Rashoop near Brits, Bojanala District, Madibeng Municipality, in the North West Province on Wednesday October 26

A 76 year-old farmer attacked in his resident after three suspects gained entrance and demanded cash.

A struggle ensued and the farmer was shot in the leg and stabbed in his chest. The farmer succeeded in grabbing the firearm away from the suspect and shot one of the attackers. He managed to call a neighbor and the farming community and the police quickly responded to the incident.

The farmer was rushed to hospital.

The wounded suspect was taken to hospital and remains under police guard.

The other two perpetrators escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, and cell phones.

A case of attempted murder and robbery is being investigated.

Meanwhile, more than two hundred black land invaders refused to leave three farms they occupied outside Brits in the North West. The illegal dwellers, mainly from Majakaneng, erected residential structures, in defiance of an eviction order issued on Monday morning. They argue that they do not have enough communal land, while the farms have far too much land.
