A farmer from Lichtenburg in the North West has been rushed to hospital in Rustenburg after being attacked and robbed on Sunday 25 February 2018.

Lt. Col Amanda Funani, the police spokesperson said that Dirk(69) and his wife Lettie Pretorius (56) had just returned from church at 12:00 when they were attacked by the three suspects.

According to Funani, the suspects were only armed with a big stick. “The three suspects gained entry to the house where they severely assaulted Dirk with the stick and their fists, they beat his entire body but mainly his head” she said.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and three firearms and then fled in Dirk’s Renault Duster vehicle. Lettie was apparently was not injured in the attack, summoned police and emergency services to the farm.

Funani said that the police recovered the vehicle later that same day but no arrests have been made.
