A horrific farm murder took place on Wednesday 21 September 2022, at about 10:00, on the farm Rocky Ridge which is between Buffelspoort dam and Kroondal in the Modderfontein area near Rustenburg, in the North West province of South Africa.
The farmer Frans Venter (68) was alone at the farmhouse after his wife had left for work at 09:00.
He was attacked and brutally assaulted and then hacked to death with pangas. The police report that at least four attackers were involved in the violent murder of the farmer.
The farmers dogs were found locked up in one of the rooms in the house.
After the alarm was raised by one of the farm workers all role players including local farmers and private security companies responded with a well planned operation.
One attacker was arrested and was found in possession of firearms, clothes and other items that were robbed during the attack.
The police tracked down a second attacker later in the day.
At least two other suspects are being sought.
