On Monday, December 5 Johan van Niekerk was assaulted on his farm outside of Delareyville, North West by two attackers.
Van Niekerk was hit over the head and stabbed by the attackers during a violent confrontation.
It is unclear what the robbers stole at this stage, but they are still at large.
Van Niekerk suffered severe stab wounds and lost a significant amount of blood, he was treated at a hospital in Delareyville but had to be transported by helicopter to a hospital in Bloemfontein.
Neighboring farmers made sure all roads around the farm of Van Niekerk were closed after a brutal attack and in an attempt to arrest the attackers.
An investigation continues.
