Between seven and ten armed and dangerous men entered the farmhouse of Guillaume Enslin on Sunday, December 4th after Enslin reportedly heard a noise outside and went to investigate. The smallholding is situated in the Bojonala District, Madibeng Municipality, Brits.
The suspects overpowered him and beat him reportedly with a monkey wrench. The suspects then carried the almost dead farmer back into the house and tied him up.
The dangerous men grabbed his wife, Maria (59), hit her, threw her to the ground and tied her up. The suspects then tied up a tenant. A worker was beaten, then brought into the house and tied up. For hours, the suspects pointed a gun at the victims, while others ransacked the property.
The suspects fled the scene with a white Nissan Navara, registration number JJV157NW, a Honda Fireblade superbike, several television sets and other household goods.
It is indeed sad that Enslin died on the scene. His wife Maria sustained several cuts and bruises. The farm worker was seriously injured and both taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A case of murder and robbery is currently being investigated by the police and a massive manhunt for the robbers has been launched.
