An unnamed Boer woman was held as a hostage for several hours on July 29, 2016, by two attackers who were unsure of whether to kill her or not. The two suspects both armed with dangerous knives started fighting with each other, and the one stabbed the other suspects. The injured suspect went into hiding.
The armed attacker began searching the house for cash and valuables while holding the woman hostage. Eventually, the suspect needed the bathroom, and the woman made a bold escape, grabbing her car keys and drove her car through the fence toward the Ventersdorp police station. Meanwhile, the suspect realizing what had happened took another vehicle and chased the woman, but the vehicle ran out of petrol, he got out of the car and ran away.
The police escorted the woman back to the farm, and the injured suspect was found and arrested on the spot. The injured suspect a 27-year old appeared in the Venterdorp court on Tuesday on a charged of robbery. The second suspect is still at large, and the police are still searching.
