A farm attack took place on 15 September 2020, just before 18:00, in Wilgeboom, Potchefstroom, in the North West province of South Africa. Thys Gordon and his wife Betsy were attacked on their smallholding by at least two attackers. Thys was overpowered and assaulted by an armed attacker while out in the garden while another attacker was assaulting his wife inside the home in the bedroom. The door to the home was open at the time giving the second attacker easy access.
The couple were assaulted with fists, kicked and beaten by the attackers who fled the scene with only a cell phone. The safe was open with cash in it but this was not taken. After the alarm was raised all role players responded and one attacker was arrested.
The couple were both treated on the scene and then taken by their daughter to hospital for further care.
Police are investigating. There is no other information available at this stage.
