A farm attack took place on the morning of 2 September 2020, at 09:45, on the farm Nooitgedacht, in the Groot Marico area, in Zeerust, in the North west province of South Africa. Seven attackers armed with a rifle and handguns, overpowered a farm worker and his wife and tied them up. The attackers then broke into the farmhouse and held up a farmer, Zede and his wife Hanri Smith, the farmers brother in law and the farmers elderly father with firearms.
As a result of the assault, they suffered moderate injuries and have been very severely traumatized. The attackers ransacked the home and stole a safe containing a number of firearms as well as electronic equipment and phones.
The attackers then fled the scene in the bakkie of the farmers brother in law. All role players responded and the bakkie was spotted in the nearby industrial area after which the attackers abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The safe and a number of stolen items were recovered.
There have been no arrests. There is no other information available at this stage.
