“The team, seized vehicles as well as one assault rifle, blasting cartridges, two shock tube detonators, 250 shotgun live ammunition, cord igniter and sets of hand gloves,” said Mokgwabone.

The ninth suspect was arrested at a house in Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp where he was found in possession of explosives and ammunition. He appeared in Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until September 12.

“It was established during investigation that one of the suspects was wanted on Johannesburg Central case of escape from lawful custody in 2009. Investigation into the matter continues,” said Mokgwabone.
