A charge of bribery and corruption was filed by the FF Plus against two Rustenberg council members of the DA and EFF last week and led to the local council’s decision to investigate their actions officially.

De Wet Nel, FF Plus councilor for Rustenburg says the council’s rules and orders committee is investigating allegations of misconduct against Agnes Tsamai of DA and Johannes Motswane of the EFF.

Nel said this matter caused a stir in the town and the FF Plus welcomed the city council’s quick decision.

“Last week, I handed all the relevant surveys and documents to the Hawks and will regularly inquire about the progress of the investigation.”

“The council’s decision to investigate these councilors is a step in the right direction and hopefully send out a strong message that no corruption or fraud will be tolerated by councilors in future.”

“Corruption is cancer that threatens every facet of our society. This culture of dishonest self-enrichment must be combated at all costs, and the FF Plus undertakes to do everything in its power to help keep political office bearers accountable,” said Nel.
