In an endeavour to curb transnational crimes, multi-disciplinary cross border operations conducted between Tuesday, 17 and Thursday, 20 May 2021 in and around Kopfontein, Skilpadshek and Ramatlabama Port of Entries resulted in the issuing of 59 fines for contravention of the Animal Identification Act and the National Road Traffic Act respectively.

Of the 59 fines, 46 were for contravention of the Animal Identification Act, 2002 (Act No. 6 of 2002) and 13 for the National Road Traffic Act, (Act No. 93 of 1996), all amounting to R21 400-00.

The operation, codenamed “Bosa” and executed simultaneously in South Africa and Botswana, was aimed at curbing transnational crimes such as stock theft, theft of motor vehicle, wildlife crimes, drug trafficking and many others.

During the operations, 342 vehicles, six containers and 743 persons were checked and searched. Furthermore, four suspected undocumented persons were taken in for processing by Immigration Officials.
