Crime intelligence led operation results in the arrest of trio for business robbery and possession of suspected stolen property

Brits Trio Task Team together with Crime Intelligence arrested three suspects between the ages of 23 and 25 who have allegedly committed strings of business robberies and other crimes around Letlhabile policing areas. The trio was arrested at Maboloka, Letlhabile outside Brits, on Tuesday, 10 October 2023, after police received information about the whereabouts of these suspects who terrorised the community.

The suspects were arrested at their different residences. During the arrests, police also conducted searches at the suspects’ places leading to the confiscation of a black revolver with eight live ammunition, different types of cigarettes, different types of cell phones, airtime vending machine, a silver blank pistol, crowbar as well as clothes which the suspect allegedly used during the robbery were found. The police also found and seized a blue Samsung A10 cell phone and razor blades.

Sello Tsietsi Nyathi, Matodzi Shuma, and Bonginkosi Masuku appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 12 October 2023. They were charged for possession of suspected stolen property, three counts of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. They are expected to appear before the same court again on Monday, 16 October 2023.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, applauded all team members for a sterling job.
