Constable and 3 familiy members murdered in North West

Police in Mmakau are investigating four counts of murder, house robbery and robbery following an incident in which four members of a family were allegedly killed late in the evening on Tuesday, 06 December 2016 in Mmakau village.

This is after an unconfirmed number of suspects gained entrance into the family’s premises where they allegedly shot and killed a 41-year-old Constable, his 40-year-old wife, two children aged 03 and 22.

The suspects then fled the scene with a vehicle, Chrysler Voyager. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the bushes at Black Rock Section, Mmakau. The Constable was working at Hebron Police Station. The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage and no one has been arrested.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms.

She said it is sad that merciless criminals instantly killed members of a family including a member of the South African Police Service in the province.

She said that police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book. She expressed her heartfelt condolences to families and relatives of the deceased.
