Brits Trio Task Team in collaboration with Cyferskuil members of the community conducted an intelligence driven operation that led to the arrest of five suspects between Friday, 23 and Saturday, 24 November 2018 for Business Robbery as well as Housebreaking and Theft.

In the first incident a Housebreaking and Theft in which a cellular phone and firearm were stolen, was reported on Sunday, 18 November 2018. It is alleged that the complainant left his place at 10:00 and on return at 17:00, found that the house was broken into. His safe, containing his firearm was removed out from the wall.

Four of the five suspects were linked to this crime.

In the second unrelated incident a business owner was robbed of cash while at his shop on Thursday, 22 November 2018 at about midday. Following a thorough investigation, three of the five suspects were linked to this crime. Further probe, linked two suspects, aged 18 and 30 to both cases. The 18 year old suspect was also found in possession of a firearm with ammunition which the police seized together with magazine, cartridges and a cellular phone.

The suspects, all aged between 18 and 30 are expected to appear before court soon on charges of business robbery, housebreaking and possession of suspected stolen goods.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane applauded the police and members of the community for their collaboration that resulted in the arrest of the suspects that were terrorising the community. She said the police through Safer Festive Season operations, will continue to work hard to bring perpetrators to book.
