Business owner’s quick thinking lead to apprehension af alleged business robbers

A Business owner’s quick thinking paid off when four suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 25 October 2023, shortly after his business was allegedly robbed in Seweding village, Mmabatho.

That was after the suspects allegedly entered his tuck shop under the pretext of conducting expired products inspection. The 37-year-old owner, noticed that the “inspectors” went straight to the cash register and took all the money and a flash machine. The owner then stepped outside his shop and locked the suspects inside the shop and called the police.

Members of the Flying Squad, who rushed to the scene, arrested the following suspects for Business Robbery: Mojalefa Moeng (26), Lesego Mogoiwa (34),Thato Mogoiwa (28) and Annah Thoti Rampopo (61). They appeared before the Molopo Magistrates’ Court in Mmabatho on Friday, 27 October 2023, on a charge of business robbery. They were given R300 bail each. The next court appearance (before the same court) will be on Friday, 8 December 2023.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended the members of the Flying Squad for their speedy reaction and apprehension of the accused. He also commended the business owner for handing the suspects over to the police without any harm and elaborated that the police cannot solve crime successfully without the participation of the law abiding citizens.
