In an endeavor to fight trio crimes and other serious crimes as well as to make sure that criminals are held accountable for their evil deeds, five males aged between 27 and 49 are expected to appear in the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 31 July 2017 on charges of murder, house robbery and kidnapping.
The suspects’ court appearance comes after their apprehension on Friday, 28 and Saturday, 29 July 2017 in Wolmaransstad and Delareyville. Upon arrest by the Klerksdorp Trio Task Team, the suspects were found in possession of bank cards, cell phones and laptop belonging to the victims.
It is alleged that the suspects killed a 70-year-old man on Sunday, 23 July 2017 at Noort Park Section in Wolmaransstad. According to information, the man returned from church, the suspects followed him until he got inside his house where the suspects also gained entrance.
They allegedly tied up the man, his wife and his daughter with a rope and demanded money from them. It is alleged that the killed the man with a knife.
The suspects then took the victim’s wife and his daughter to town and forced them to withdraw money from the man’s bank account. It is further alleged that the suspects eventually dumped the wife and the daughter in the bushes along the N12 road in Wolmaransstad.
The North West, Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms. She applauded the Cluster Trio Task team members who worked hard and around the clock to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
