An Intelligence driven operation by members of Brits Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Gauteng Tracing Team on Monday, 20 April 2020, led to the arrest of four suspects for murder and armed robbery.

The suspects were arrested after being traced and arrested in Soshanguve, Winterveld, Itsoseng and Letlhabile. A Toyota Quantum, allegedly used during the commission of the crime as well as a robbed Samsung cellular phone, belonging to the victim, were seized during these arrests.

According to information available at this stage, a 50-year-old Samuel Maiketso Moholoholo was allegedly robbed of his money and shot dead during a robbery at the gate of his house in Old Sand Street, Letlhabile on Saturday, 29 February 2020.

Furthermore, it was indicated that the victim who ran a money lending service, was allegedly returning from the bank when the incident occurred.

The four suspects, Alpheus Moeng (32), Gift Mashaba (44), Victor Matjila (52) and Johannes Seloane (51) appeared in the Brits Magistrates’ Court today for murder and armed robbery. They were remanded in custody until the next court appearance on Wednesday, 6 May 2020.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena congratulated the police for a job well done and said that the police will continue to work hard to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.
