In Lichtenburg, the police arrested an 18 year old woman for fatally stabbing a 19 year old woman on Saturday, 23 December 2017 at Kalfontein farm near Lichtenburg.
It is alleged that the suspect and the victim were drinking at a tavern when an argument ensued between them. The suspect allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the victim on the stomach.
The victim was certified dead at the scene. The police managed to trace and arrest the suspect after being alerted about the incident.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane condemned the incidents. She encouraged members of the community to drink responsibly and to solve their differences amicably including in domestic relationships.
