Detectives in the province arrested 297 suspects for various offences during suspect raiding between Wednesday, 29 and Thursday, 30 August 2018.

The suspects included 124 suspects held for Assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and assault common. The other arrests included 22 for common robbery, 9 for rape, 44 for burglary at residential and businesses, 22 for malicious damage to property, 12 for contravention of protection order, and 16 for theft.

Out of the 297 arrests, 43 were for crimes against women and children.

The suspects were arrested at all seven policing clusters in the province of which 74 arrests were affected in the Klerksdorp Cluster, 43 in the Rustenburg Cluster, 43 in the Brits Cluster as well as 43 in the Pudimoe Cluster.

Most of the suspects have appeared at various courts within the province today, 31 August 2018, while others are expected to appear on Monday, 3 September 2018.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane commended detectives for these arrests. She said perpetrators have no place to hide and that the long arm of the law will ensure that they are brought to book.
