28 Drunk drivers arrested in crackdown, North West

As part of stamping authority of the state and enforcement of the Road Traffic Act to decrease the number of road fatalities caused by drivers who have no regard for the law, police in the Province have arrested 28 suspects for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The arrests emanate from intensive crime prevention operations that started on Friday, 14 until Sunday, 16 June 2019, at various parts of the province.

In addition to the number of arrests made, 44 motorists were fined for Road Traffic offences such as driving without drivers licence, driving of unroadworthy vehicles and overloading.

The suspects are expected to appear at various courts on Tuesday, 18 June 2019.
