The tireless efforts of the Criminal Investigation Service in the North West to leave no stone unturned in tracing and arresting wanted suspects led to the arrest of 276 suspects between Wednesday, 10 and Thursday, 11 October 2018.

The arrests include 147 suspects for newly reported cases and 129 for previously reported cases. Among the arrested, 111 are held for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) and assault common.

The other arrests included 30 for common robbery, 21 for malicious damage to property, 21 for theft, 15 for rape, one for murder and 21 for residential and business burglaries. Out of the 276 arrests, 52 were for crimes against women and children.

The suspects were arrested at all seven Policing Clusters in the Province and most of them are expected to appear at various courts within the Province on Monday, 15 October 2018.

The Provincial Commissioner of the North West Province, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane commended the members for their hard work and dedication that lead to the arrest of these perpetrators. “Our Detective members will continue to work around the clock to check if these suspects are not wanted for any other crimes in the Province, this serves as a warning to perpetrators that there is no place to hide in the Province and that the long arm of the law will ensure that they are brought to book,” she said.
