A 32 year old accused will languish in jail for 15 years. This is after Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court sentenced him on Wednesday, 10 January 2018.
It was reported at the time of the incident that the victim, a 15 year old girl was asleep in the suspect’s car in January 2017, when he drove to his place in Magogwe Village where he raped her. The matter was reported to the police and the accused was arrested and ultimately sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General, Baile Motswenyane congratulated Mmabatho Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for a sterling job that led to securing of the sentence.
She said that police take Gender Based Violence seriously in line with the Ministerial Six Point Plan and will ensure that those who commit heinous crimes get hefty sentences.
