As part of providing responsive policing to bring down the level of serious and other crimes, 224 suspects were arrested during provincial suspect raiding operation held between Wednesday, 17 and Thursday, 18 January 2018.
The suspects were nabbed for various offences including 106 for Assault with intent to do Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and assault common. The other arrests included 13 for rape, 15 for malicious damage to property, 12 for burglary residential and business, 20 for theft, nine for common robbery, and seven for Contravention of protection order.
The suspects were arrested at all seven policing clusters in the province and are expected to appear at various courts within the province on 19 and 22 January 2018.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed the arrest and indicated that the police will continue with such operations to ensure that criminals are arrested.
