10-year-old girl missing in Koster

A 10-year-old girl went missing in Koster, North West police said on Wednesday.

Queen Nebe, from Senthomole Section in Reagile near Koster was last seen on September 13.

“She was last seen on the 13th September 2016 by a neighbour, Matsatsi at the tuck shop. The SAPS [South African Police Service] is urgently looking for information regarding this missing child and therefor asked the public to come forward with any information,” police said in a statement.

Three days after she went missing, more than 200 community members torched a tuck-shop in Reagile, accusing the owner of kidnapping little children in Koster. They also barricaded the Koster-Swartruggens road with stones and burning tyres.

In September 24, 2014, two girls went missing at Mountain View in Reagile, the body of one of the girls was found floating in Kgetleng River four days later, the other remains missing.

In Vryburg also in North West, the body of four-year-old Nomthandazo Talakase was found in the bushes near Monotomosetlha informal settlement in Huhudi on Monday, with a limb missing. She went missing on September 11.

According to Missing Children South Africa, a child goes missing every five hours in South Africa, and only 77 percent of children are found and 23 percent of the children are not located.
