A police officer is in a critical condition after he was hijacked and shot on his upper body by a group of armed men, North West police said on Sunday.
According to police spokesperson Captain Paul Ramaloko, the police officer was not on duty when the incident occurred.
“He was in his personal vehicle, and we think it was a robbery,” he said.
Ramaloko said the officer was assisted by a passerby and rushed to hospital with a single gunshot wound.
He is currently critical and his vehicle was later recovered in Soshanguve, said Ramaloko.
No arrests have been made.
