In a comprehensive audit conducted, but not yet fully completed, it shows that non-whites in South Africa already owns more than 34% of the land.

Of arable land in the country, commercial farmers own only 65.5% according to a comprehensive audit on land ownership in South Africa.

The audit is apparently done by Agri Development Solutions and although the audit is not yet completed, it has already become clear that non-whites owned 34.5% of the agricultural land.

The audit also showed that more than 398,000 hectares of agricultural land, which whites owned, were sold back to non-white farmers.

The audit, which analyzed 35 000 transactions, is considered the most comprehensive analysis yet undertaken on land ownership in South Africa.

Observers say that land owned by non-whites are mainly in the hands of people who make a living from farming, but are not interested, or do not have the ability to produce commercially.
