Police are still looking for suspects in the killing of a KwaZulu-Natal security guard who was shot dead during a hijacking in Mt Edgecombe on Thursday.

The guard was killed and another man was shot and wounded.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala confirmed that no arrests had been made.

Two men were delivering a consignment of cigarettes when they were hijacked at the corner of the M41 and Flanders Drive.

The hijackers opened fire, wounding one of the men.

A security guard, who had been travelling with the pair, attempted to intervene and was shot dead.

The hijackers took the bakkie.

The wounded man and his colleague ran to a nearby petrol station, where they had delivered the cigarettes.

The bakkie was found abandoned near the scene on Thursday.
